Can I still use my specific testing accommodations, such as breaks, when my professor uses ProctorHub, Respondus Lockdown Browser or Honorlock?
If you use certain testing accommodations that require you to look away from the computer for a brief period of time (such as restroom breaks, use of scratch paper, looking at a CCTV, use of a reader, etc.), SAS recommends the following if your professor is using a test proctoring system:
- ProctorHub and Respondus Lockdown Brower: These tools are passive testing tools that do not take specific action during the test itself. With ProctorHub the professor is provided footage of the exam after the fact to review as necessary. If you will not be looking at the computer screen continuously or if there will be a different arrangement for your exam due to your use of an accommodation, SAS recommends that you notify your professors prior to the test. This notification can help explain any behaviors or actions the professor may see when reviewing exam footage. Contact SAS if you have questions.
- Honorlock: This test proctoring system is more active and can pause an exam if unexpected actions occur during the test. However, professors can list accommodations in the test settings to guide proctors during the exam. If you have specific accommodations that you want to be sure are listed within the Honorlock system, SAS recommends that you contact your professor. You may also contact SAS to discuss accommodation language and best approach for communicating with your professor. SAS can speak with your professor on your behalf if beneficial to you.
